Pre-hang checklist

- No active leaks at walls, windows, or slab seams for a full wet season if possible
- Relative humidity manageable with dehumidifier (often under ~60% when closed)
- Framing dry to the touch; no musty smell behind plastic
- Exterior grading and gutters directing water away from foundation
- Insulation strategy decided — rigid foam vs mineral wool per local code and moisture plan
- Choose mold-resistant board where codes or conditions require it
Red flags — wait or remediate

- Efflorescence or repeated water stains on block
- Prior mold that was never professionally addressed
- Dirt floors or missing vapor strategy on cold walls
